Tsai-Sheng (Eason) Chuang is an exchange student studying at Temple University in Philadelphia for one year. Currently, he is enrolled in levels 3 and 4 of the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at Temple to help improve his English language skills prior to taking classes at the university-level. His favorite IELP class is "American Sports," and when asked about his favorite American sport, he quickly answered basketball. Outside of class, Eason enjoys playing basketball in Temple’s recreational center.

Eason is excited to be a part of Temple’s Global Living Learning Community (Global LLC) this upcoming fall semester which will be located in Temple Towers. Global LLC provides domestic and international students with an opportunity to build life-long relationships that will connect them both socially and intellectually, as well as acquire cross-cultural communication skills. As participants of this community, students learn that while they may have cultural differences, they share many similar values and can succeed together by collaborating on projects to promote globalism on and off campus. This community will be composed of half domestic and half international students. "I’m eager to meet my dorm mates, two of which are from the United Kingdom and three are American," says Eason.

"Philadelphia is in a great location," says Eason, "it’s close to other big cities like New York City and Washington, D.C., so I can travel around and see everything while I’m here." Philadelphia is 150 kilometers from NYC and 200 kilometers from Washington, D.C. Eason has traveled to NYC and Niagara Falls already with friends, both of which he enjoyed very much.

"Some of the main reasons I chose Temple University was its large size and its location in a city environment," remarks Eason. "I wanted to study in a place where there were a lot of people of Asian background because it is easier to adjust to being overseas."

Several universities are located in Philadelphia, including University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, so the Philadelphia area is a popular destination for a variety of students. The weekly events, festivals, and social activities available through all the universities make it easy for people to get involved and develop long-lasting friendships.

Eason plans to take business management courses within the Fox School of Business and Management and then is contemplating applying to Temple University’s 3+2 Dual Bachelor’s Master’s Degree (DBMD) program. n is contemplating applying to Temple University’s 3+2 Dual Bachelor’s Master’s Degree (DBMD) program.
