Inbound Exchange & Visiting Students at Temple
Temple University welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from around the world to join our campus for a semester or full academic year. Whether you come as an exchange student through your home university or a visiting study abroad student who applies directly, you’ll gain valuable international experience, earn credits toward your degree, and discover life in one of America’s most dynamic cities.
Exchange Students
If your home university has a formal exchange agreement with Temple, you may be nominated to study here as an exchange student. In this case, you continue to pay tuition to your home university.
Keep in mind: the number of exchange spots is limited each year. If you are not selected as an exchange student, you may still join Temple as a visiting study abroad student, giving you another pathway to experience everything Temple and Philadelphia have to offer.
Visiting Study Abroad Students
If Temple doesn’t have a formal partnership with your university—or if your school’s exchange spots are already filled—you can still study at Temple as a visiting student.
- You’ll apply directly to Temple and pay tuition and fees here.
- You’ll have full access to courses, advising, and student life, just like exchange students.
- Many students choose this option to take advantage of Temple’s unique programs and Philadelphia location.
This path is a great opportunity if you want to secure your study abroad experience at Temple, even if your university’s exchange places are limited.
Not sure which program is right for you? Your home university’s international office can help determine your eligibility and nomination path.
