DBMD Application Process and Deadlines

DBMD students have the option of applying for fall or spring admission; some departments, however, only accept new students in the fall semester. Please check with Global Programs to confirm whether spring admission is available for your program of interest.

Fall admissions deadline: April 1

Spring admissions deadline: October 15

Step-by-Step DBMD Application Checklist

Required Documents and English Language Test Scores for DBMD Applicants

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation should be obtained from college/university faculty members familiar with your academic performance and/or an immediate work supervisor. Applicants should submit 2–3 letters, depending on department requirements.

Personal Statement

Each master's program has its own specific prompt. Applicants are asked to respond with a statement (typically 500-1,000 words) that provides additional background on their experience and explains how earning a master's degree from Temple will support their future career goals.

Resume or Curriculum Vitae

Submit a current resume or CV outlining your prior education and professional experience.

English Language Proficiency Test Score

TOEFL iBT ®, IELTS Academic, Duolingo, and PTE Academic language proficiency scores are accepted. See the program-specific admission requirements for more information.

Standardized Test Scores

Temple waives GRE and GMAT tests for most DBMD applicants. The Fox School of Business requires GMAT or GRE scores for Actuarial Science and Statistics and Data Science and for students with GPAs below 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). These applicants should forward GMAT or GRE scores electronically to the Temple University Graduate School (Institutional Code: 2906).

Transcripts

Official transcripts are required from all universities attended. While a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is generally expected admissions, some programs may have different requirements.

Application Fee

The online application is not submitted until a non-refundable application fee of $60 is paid.

Post-Acceptance Materials

Application for Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20)

While you cannot submit your I-20 at application, we recommend that you prepare the form and your financial documents early. Submitting them as soon as possible to help avoid delays with your visa.

Temple University can create your I-20 only after you are admitted and pay the deposit to confirm your attendance.

DBMD Study Plan

After you are admitted, you must complete the DBMD Study Plan (PDF) to choose the courses at Temple that will also count toward your remaining undergraduate degree. 

If you have already completed all of you undergraduate requirements, you do not need to submit the DBMD Study Plan.
